Last week’s Sugar Ball for the McCord Museum was a glitz and glamour-filled evening for many of Montreal’s eligible party-goers. Out to mix and mingle were the movers and shakers of the business and art world, local celebrities, fashion trailblazers, musical artists, and restaurant vanguards. The venue, Little Burgundy’s Arsenal, gave it an urban edge with just the right amount of industrial panache.
Inspired by the Museum’s new exhibition, Music – Quebec: From Charlebois to Arcade Fire, the Sugar Ball offered Montreal’s young professionals an evening of tunes reminiscent of the Quebec music scene from the 60s to today. Afterwards, guests moved to the beats of acclaimed DJ YO-C and sipped flavoured Grey Goose cocktails at the always fabulous bar space run by Brahm Mauer (Co-Chair of the event) and his team while VIPs indulged in a scotch tasting compliments of Pub Burgundy Lion.
And, of course, the guests were treated to eats and sweets galore. Gourmet stations featured delectable dishes from a variety of Montreal’s top restaurants such as oysters from M sur Masson, fresh pizza and other bouchées from Bevo Bar, Snowdon Deli’s delicious smoked meat, sushi from the one and only Ryu, delicacies provided by B & M and Greasy Spoon, and lush hors-d’oeuvres from Santos (where we’ll see you tomorrow evening) and Dolcetto & Co., to name a few. Sugar Ballers were regaled with delicious desserts from Cornetteria and Patisserie Rococo and were caught red-handed devouring sweets at the candy bar until the wee hours of the night.
